Being a taphophile isn't for everyone. It's for those who simply love being a taphophile! When I tell people what I do as a hobby, I get either the mixed reactions of 'wow, that's amazing', or 'you complete weirdo'! In fact, that's why I created this page today, to shed a light on Taphophilia and what we (I) do here.

What is a Taphophile?

In a nutshell, and without using the overused official definition; we LOVE anything dark, cryptic, horror, and mostly graveyards, tombs, etc.

Some Taphophiles have a love for funerals but that ain't me. I just have a fascination about learning about the lives of people behind a gravestone! 

Who is The Crypt Chick?

That will be me! At the moment I'd like to remain anonymous. That is just for the simple fact that 'The Crypt Chick' isn't really about me, it's about showcasing the lost memories that have simply vanished into thin air. The Crypt Chick is about making the 'dead' alive again through this tiny little website.

If there's a computer in heaven, I'd like to think that these people are smiling whilst I write about their lives.

When did you start this?

I'm going to do a full blog post on this. However, I've been a taphophile since a very young age in a small town in Italy. Back then I used to love visiting graveyards but my whole family thought I would grow out of it, and I never did!

Where are you from?

I'm from an average-sized town in Yorkshire called Bradford. If you're viewing this from 2023 you might see recent posts in Australia. I travelled here from November 2022 so for a year on my posts will probably just be Aussie-based.

Do you only do Instagram?

Well, technically I do this now. But no! I actually started on a website called findagrave.com where I enjoy helping people find pictures of graves that are usually for ancestry purposes.

Will you help me find my family grave?

Of course, I would LOVE to! I'll happily work with you to find a lost grave. I ideally travel around Northern England but will be willing to go a little bit further too. Just drop me a message on my contact page and I'll be happy to help!
